If you eat a special food and can't find it in our database, you can add it using the nutrition information on the back of the package, or after looking up the nutrition information on the web. This feature can also be used to add supplements, such as a multivitamin. See here for more information about adding supplements.
Once you create a food, it will remain in the Good Measures database so you can log it again.
Any foods you create are private: other Good Measures members will not be able to find your Created Foods unless you specifically share them with Friends or your Household. You can learn more about sharing foods here.
There are two ways to Create a Food:
1. Create from Find Food Results
If you have searched for a food and it doesn't show up in the results page, select the Create the Food button, which is located at the bottom of the Filter By box. If no results are returned, select the Create the Food link at the top of the results page.
2. Create from My Foods
You can Create a Food by navigating from the My Foods drop-down menu, and choosing the Created Foods tab. Then, select the Create a Food button.
Enter the Nutrition Information
Obtain the nutrient information for the food you wish to add by looking at the nutrition facts label on the package, or look up the information online. Enter the name of the food, the brand, the serving size, and the weight of the food in grams into the Create A Food popup. Then, fill in the remaining nutrient information from the nutrition facts label. You may enter either the % Daily Value (%DV) or the measurement values (mg, g, RAE, IU, etc.).
Use the optional check boxes to indicate if this food is a condiment, beverage, supplement, etc. These types of foods are treated differently by the GMI Engine when it makes Meal Suggestions for you.
Click the Create button at the bottom of the popup, and the food will be added to My Foods.
There are two ways to log a Created Food:
1. Log from Find Food results
Go to the Log page and type in the find food search bar for your recently created food. The instant search results will display the food. Select the food to add it to your meal log.
2. Log from My Foods
Click the Log button in the Created Foods Tab for the created you just added.
On the next screen, select the number of servings of the food consumed, which meal it was eaten in, and on what day you had it. Select the Log button when finished.
